The Yo-Yo Birthday.

(AKA the Roller-coaster Birthday).

Okay so yesterday was my birthday. My 54th. :-D

It certainly didnt turn out anything like I had planned, but I think it will be a memorable one for sure.

First of all, I had planned on having a big ole lazy day. not even getting dressed, just sitting around in my pjs and bathrobe all day, reading, watching tv....just generally slacking off.

Well, I got up, came into the living-room, did my workout,(no excuses there.....) read a few blogs and FB....then I thought, well, even tho it IS my birthday- tomorrow is the last day before we go back to work, so we still have to get groceries and I really DO HAVE to go to the post office and I need to get those registration papers up to the doctors office so I can get my meds before they run out. I'd rather do all that today and then have all tomorrow for a true R & R day before going back to the grindstone on Thursday.

So when Paul got up- before I even said anything, he voices my thoughts exactly in the form of a question...as in would you like to do this?......and I laughed and said I had been thinking the same thing.

Well, we went and got our groceries. Came home, put everything away. Then I realized we hadn't been to the Post Office nor the Doctor's office. So we got our shoes back on and instead of driving up there, decided to walk up- and take the bus back home.
We grabbed the post office items and put them in a bag and off we went. It wasn't a power walk- but it wasn't a stroll either. It was a nice walk. One and a quarter miles.

Well, Paul had a few photos on his pen drive that he wanted to take to the photo shop and have printed out so he could hang them on the wall in our "Other Room"...(sometimes it's the office, sometimes it's the workout room, sometimes it's the photography studio, sometimes it's the gameroom, sometimes it's the guestroom. It's the Other Room.).....so he stopped there while I continued on to the post office to mail my items home.

Well, I got finished and then walked into a couple of the Charity shops to browse, then walked back down to the photo shop where Paul was just finishing up. The clerk told him it would take around fifteen to twenty minutes to print them up- so we stolled around Didsburyand then stopped in Costa(the British Version of Starbucks) for a coffee.

He finished his and I still had a LOT of mine when the twenty minutes was up and I suggested he go ahead and walk over and pick the things up while I finished my cafe-latte. And he did. While he was gone, I decided that instead of making a whole birthday cake for just me and him, I would just buy a couple of slices of the cakes they had there at Costa. I got him a slice of carrot cake- me a slice of tiramasu cake. (mine was divine- he still hasnt eaten his yet.)

Then he got back and we sat and took in the local color as I finished my drink.

We left, strolled around Didsbury a bit more, then walked to the bus stop.........just as the entire group of kids from all the local schools arrived for thier after school trip home.
Ummmmm.......... no.

Now bear in mind, I haven't been out walking but just ONCE since I got off the crutches for my broken foot, and that was the day before when I walked a mile and a half to- and in- the park.
I was in NO shape to do another mile and a half after walking all the way UP there into town. But it was either that OR riding back on the bus with 60 screaming squawking teenagers and elementary kids, so we started the trek back home.

And about halfway back home- it started raining. Not a proper rain, just a alternating sprinkle/drizzle.

And that's when I realized we still hadn't been to the Docotors office. I hadn't even remembered to bring the paperwork with us. The MAIN reason we came into town.
O. M. G....*facepalm*

We laughed about it....a little.

Then when we got home, Paul walked into Northenden to get the hardware to hang the photographs on the wall and I came in and showered and got ito my warm jammies and bathrobe. FINALLY.

After he got back and got the photos hung up, He made us dinner(tea as they call it). He made Ribeye steak, potatoes, spinach and mushroom and onions. And it was lovely.  Afterwards we sat and watched a bit of TV  before bed.

Now this morning I got up and thought, well, I'll just do my workout and then nip into town while Paul's still asleep and get that doctors paperwork thing taken care of.
So I got into my workout clothes and thought, you know- I'm almost getting bored of the Jillian Michaels one, let me find something else to do.....and when I tried to look at a different workout video I found online, it turned out to be a trojan horse for a virus. So it knocked out my Mozilla and I had to re-install it. Well, I gave up on the workout, but decided to just go ahead and go to the doctors office. So I grabbed my coat,  put on my boots, grabbed my keys and wallet, and off to the bus stop I went.
And JUST as I got there- I realized I had forgotten the paperwork AGAIN, so as I walked BACK to the house to get it- the bus passed me by.
 Dammitt.
I came back, got the papers, grabbed a glass of water and drank it-  then walked back to the bus stop to wait on the next one because the one that takes me directly TO the doc office runs every 30 mins.

Well, as I'm standing at the bus stop- with about 15 mins left before the next 370 comes by....I see THREE herons flying overhead, so I grab out my phone and start trying to get a decent photo of them......I'm not sure I ever did get a GOOD one......cause I glance up just as the NEXT 370 breezes by the stop- AGAIN. It was a few minutes EARLY and that NEVER EVER happens!!! Til NOW.

At this point, I said a couple of bad words starting with the letter M  & F, and ending with  'son of a bitch!!!!!'.....

I started laughing and said screw it- and I gave up and walked back to the house.
I'll get Paul to stop by there after work tomorrow and we'll drop them off then. I'm going to spend the rest of my day relaxing like I planned to begin with.

And THAT has been my Birthday. What a mis-adventure!!!!

What Just Happened?

Okay, ...I'm a little freaked out at the moment.

For the past few weeks, I've been having 15-20 second shots of excruciating pain(as in pressure) just above my right temple every couple of days. Then as quickly as it starts- it's gone.

It's worrying, but I figure I'll discuss it with the doc when I have my next appointment.

A few minutes ago- I was sitting here catching up on my reading my favorite blogs, and I had the funniest feeling........sort of like tunnel vision or a tiny bit like an out of body experience, but it seemed like my entire body was vibrating and I felt like I was traveling backwards really fast. It only lasted a few seconds....maybe 10-15 and when I stopped moving, my ears are ringing and I feel just ever so slightly nauseous.

My first thought was..."...Is that what it feels like when you are dying?"

I can be overly dramatic sometimes.....but I seriously am a bit more worried now.

The Road Less Traveled.........

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...Robert Frost

Freaky Vs Weird.....

Okay, I've thought about it and thought about it and this is just getting harder and harder to write about. So I'm gonna stop thinking about it and just write it already.

Okay, so I have decided that(for me) freaky and weird are different in the way of......
Weird is something someone does and it's borderline acceptable to do it in public.
Freaky is something that is weird and should be kept private- or at least from the GENERAL public.

Let's just agree that any and all sex and bedroom activities are freaky-....they all need to stay private. Ain't NOBODYS business except for the people in that bedroom- whether that be one person or 10  people or a hundred people(big bedroom, I guess).

Now in public.......I know one guy who picks his nose and then eats the bogies. In public. That's freaky for me. If he would do that in public- what the heck does he do in private??? Dont wanna know- he's on my freaky list.
My husband thinks the women who glue fake nails and eyelashes on are freaky. I think that's perfectly normal....in most cases. Now if you glue so many eyelashes on you look like they are a solid piece of felt instead of individual lashes- then THAT's a bit freaky. If you use artificial nails an inch long, thats normal- but the ones 5 inches long....that's freaky.

Men who wear mankinis and women who wear see thru clothing are freaky to me. Speedos are just weird. I'm not sure why- but it's kinda like women and nipples....everyone knows you have the bits, - but not everyone wants them on display. Freaky.

People who hoard are freaky to me. I just dont understand that need!!

I think I still got a long way to go on thinking this post out.

Freaks.

Okay, First of all, let's loosely define what a FREAK is........

The informal definition from Wikipedia........a person regarded as strange because of their unusual appearance or behaviour.

"Her books offer us the independent girl as something of a freak"
Alrighty then. So what it's basicly saying is- we ALL have freaky tendencies.

Every Single One of us......So is our freakishness inherited or learned? I'm thinking learned. Otherwise wouldnt we all have the exact Freakishness as our ancestors???
Believe me- I dont think my parents have any of my freakishness in them.

I really cant decide tho........where do we LEARN our freaks?

Or are they just like bad habits that we pick up and then cant/dont want to get rid of?

Thoughts?????

To Tide You Over.....

Well, in the past few days ........

I finally talked with my mom after a month of not being able to get thru to her because of Skype not connecting....and then her being hospitalized for a week.

She also got a new web cam so we were actually able to see and talk to each other and I was tickled PINK!!

I got my new ring. Been looking for another London Blue Topaz ring for ages and just haven't been able to find exactly what I wanted til last week. I used to own one in a previous life, but it was 17 carats...OBSCENELY big and ugly-(it was a gift-part of a set- I didn't choose them myself)and altho I loved the look of the Blue Topaz, the stones I had, I hated.........
The ring was too big and garish, the earrings were heart shaped stones and I HATE heart shaped stones(I think they should only be worn by little girls or  teenagers) ....the necklace was okay but the setting was yellow gold- (again-something I don't care for at all). So, I was trolling thru the jewelers websites and happened on one that had not only the stone I wanted(London Blue Topaz) but also in the metal I wanted(Sterling Silver) and the stone was the SIZE I wanted(5-7 Carats)!!!! No diamonds, just the topaz!!! I was over the moon!!!

Hmmm......I think maybe I need to start using some wrinkle cream and moisturizer on those hands now that I see them close up in a photo.......

Anywayyyyyy......so the in-laws picked up our new shelves from Paul's aunt and delivered them today. I made them supper and we had a really nice visit as well!
I made...
Roast Chicken(That bird was HUGE!!! Like 10 lbs huge!!)
Roast Mixed Veg(Broccoli, baby corn, onions and bell peppers)
Roast Potatoes
Chicken Gravy
And for afters we had Pineapple Upside Down Cake, My Mother-in-Laws fav (next to  Lemon cake).

The shelving units are Black Glass and Chrome- matches our TV stand, too. Paul has put his Star Trek Sta- ship model collection on the larger one. We thought they would look better on it than on the wooden ones we had them on. And they do.

Our house is starting to look like a home.(About time too- we been living here almost a YEAR now!! How time flies!!
We still need a comfy chair for the living room so it doesn't look so much like a movie theatre, tho. We need to get two large pieces of artwork too....... One for over the TV- and one for the wall behind the sofa area....but they need to be pretty big so it's gonna take us a while to find something that not only will work in the space size-wise, but also something both of us like......that's like shooting for the moon.
It's really weird that we like so MANY of the same things but are at total opposite poles when it comes to other things. But it keeps things interesting as well, I gotta admit.

I was gonna post some photos of our outing to the pub, but none of them turned out good enough to post. Most were blurry or the lighting was too dark(we were in a pub, lol), and someone got sick and decided that sleeping in the bathtub would be a really good idea and altho I got a really good photo of that, I dont think they would appreciate me posting it... Sorry.
(And to be honest,The bathtub sleep was a GREAT idea.) I stayed up til almost 6AM when the someone finally stopped being sick enough to shower. Then we went to bed....them for about 11 hours, me for about 3. All in all tho- a "good time???" was had by all.

My Birthday is coming up on the 25th. I've taken Mon 24th, Tues 25th, and Wed 26th off in addition to the Saturday and Sunday  before. Nice long weekend. However, we're going to the Pub to celebrate MY birthday on Friday the 28th...I'm thinking maybe I shoulda planned that time off better. LOL.

Now, also- I've been dieting and that's been taking up a good bit of my time lately. More than I'm happy with and my weight bhas been up and down like a helicopter and making me miserable. But I'm hanging in there!!!

So there you have it. A brief story about some of the things that's been going on in the past month or so since I posted last.

Now- I'll be posting the "Are All Men/Women Freaks" Posts later on this week.......

Freaks.......Coming soon....

Okay, so I was watching my guilty pleasure today and Carrie asked....."Are All Men Freaks?"

Yes, I watch Sex and The City. And I LOVE it.

So I decided to do my own version of it.....only I'm going to do a two parter. One on men- and one on women.

It'll take me a few days, but should be up by the weekend!!

I'm Still Here...

Hiya!!

Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. I've been concentrating on my weight loss since just before Christmas and have been neglecting my journalistic duties on this blog. Sorry.
In actuality and fairness- I have sat down three times and written out a post, and all three times either it refused to post and wouldn't save to draft, or I accidentally deleted it instead of publishing.
And to be honest, I was far too lazy and annoyed and just couldn't be bothered going back and redoing the posts, so I just left it til next time.

Nothing much has been happening. We did go out and celebrate hubbys Birthday a couple weeks ago. That was a night to remember, for sure. I'll have to post the photos of that night for yall and tell the tale.
But it will be later on this weekend. I'll have to take the photos off my phone and download to my laptop...plus we are heading out in just a few minutes to do  the weekly food shop and buy a watchband for my hubbys new watch, so that's going to take a few hours.
Anyway, let's see if I can actually get this to PUBLISH today.

Fingers crossed!!!
