My doc's visit went VERY well today!
Turns out I'm doing everything RIGHT when it comes to my weight loss and cooking and eating routines.
The doctor made the ONE change to my diet yesterday (she advised me to replace the grapefruit juice with Cranberry juice to prevent another UTI), and the nutritionist/dietitian today made one MORE change to the diet(she advised me to stay with it but instead of doing the 12 days ON and two days OFF rotation-change to a six days ON and one day OFF rotation. That way there was no two days with sugars and starches in my diet.)
So there we go.
I learned a LOT today from her in the hour and a half I was there.
UNFORTUNATELY, I had gotten up and NOT eaten breakfast NOR lunch before going to the appointment and then afterwards I went to the supermarket to do the weekly shopping and while I was there shopping my blood sugar bottomed out and I had to sit down in the middle of the store and eat a half a candy-bar and drink half a sugary soda to keep from passing out. After 15 minutes I was good to go again, tho, so I got my groceries and came home. Ironic, huh, with me JUST having come from Diabetic class.
Thank goodness for the cashier who knew exactly what to do for me when she asked if I was a diabetic and I confirmed it.
BLESS her!!
There ARE some wonderfully caring people still out there in the world. They're just hidden amongst the idiots and arse-h*les and don't get noticed because they're not the type people who jump up and down and wave their arms around yelling "Look at ME- I'm absolutely WONDERFUL!!!" at the top of their lungs because if THEY don't toot their own horns, then who will?.......
Anyway- I have 8 more hours of class left to go to so I can take one 8 hour class all; day or I can do two days in a row of four hours each.
I think I'll do the day long one. Paulius has agreed to come with me to it so it'll be a learning experience for the both of us. He's being so supportive of me with all this going on.
Anyway, it was a BIG day for me so I'm going to go now and rest.
More about some wonderful people I know in the next few days posts.
Yeah- I know quite a few wonderful peoples.
:-)
Later, Gators.

Someday.......SOON!

The BLACK one is what I'm going to buy when I lose ALL my weight!
Naughty, eh? Course, I can't wear it outside the house but it'll be great for a romantic night home with my Paulius.
My BFF Lois is sending me the RED one! Much more suitable for an evening out on the town.
I've officially lost 16 pounds now.
I still have a lot to go before reaching my goal weight.
But I'm going to talk about that part. I'm going to celebrate the loss I have achieved!
This diet isn't so bad.
I haven't once been hungry when I eat everything like I'm supposed to. And it doesn't require special foods either. Paulius and I can make one dinner and I just omit the bread and/or potatoes and/or rice or pasta. ........Starches.
No dessert or snacking between meals.
I stay on the diet for 12 days- and have a break for two days during which I can eat whatever I want.
And I DO eat whatever I want on those two days. Then I go back on the diet for 12 more days.........
I have it set up so my long weekend off work and my two days off the diet coincide. (Dang- that was a big word for a blond.)
I honestly didn't have any faith that this diet would work when my friend K.B., at work, found it for me.
The doctor had given me a 1200 cal a day diet that gave me free rein over WHAT I ate-even sweets in very MODERATE amounts...but Karen and I are diet buddies during the Activate Upstate Weight Loss Challenge and talking with me she realized that I needed something a bit more......restrictive..... for it to work for me.
So she went on the net and browsed until she found this diet and gave it to me. I ran it past my doctor and she thought it was an even better diet for me than the one she had given me because it eliminated all starches and sweets except for the two days off. And as my doc said- that's what it's all about anyway, I have to learn to eat starches and sweets in EXTREME moderation, only occasionally indulging.
So with my doc's blessing I have been on it for about a month, more or less. And I am averaging a weight loss of about a pound every three days. Steady weight loss.
I have to admit I DID cheat once....the other morning I was craving something sweet- so I got a small oatmeal cookie bar and ate less than half of it with an allowed 8 oz of milk. I left the rest on the desk.(Sorry Pauli, sweetie.)
Only time I have cheated tho- and it doesn't seem to have hurt my weight loss any either cause I had lost another pound when I weighed last night.
I love it. I can stick with this one.

That's My Story & I'm Sticking To It!!!
Okay, so lately I been having some weight problems. Altho I'm trying to lose weight in all the usual ways, it seems to be back-firing on me. I've been GAINING instead of losing. I have been to the doctor to be tested for Thyroid problems and everything came back in the normal range.
Well, last night at work I was doing my usual rounds looking for any type security breach- and on one of my friends desks I saw a cartoon of Garfield in a ratty bathrobe and bunny slippers holding a steaming cup of something with this little note beside him........
"We all get heavier as we get older because there's a lot more information in our heads. So I'm not getting fat, I'm just really intelligent and my head couldn't hold anymore so it has started filling up the rest of me."
Well, ....it sounds reasonable to me so....
"That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!"
