Neighborly Nod

Having problems with your next-door neighbor? Here's an idea I came upon while surfing the web a while back- I don't remember exactly where or I would give credit where credit is due.

Okay- not saying it's a GOOD idea- but it IS something to think about.

Lemons to Lemonade.

I really do need a long holiday.
I'm bored with the routine everyday things I do.

It's so bad I'm even getting bored with the internet. Yes, even my blogging has slowed WAAAAY down as you can well see. I used to post every day- or at least five or six times a week, but now I do good to post a couple times a week. And most of those posts are either rants or they have to do with some gripe I have about a family matter, or they are about a bad dream I had or about missing my dad. Very negative stuff. I've tried working on my book and lately I work on it for an hour or so every morning when I come in from work when the house is quiet and nobody is wanting me to do anything or ask me where somthing is, and at the end of the hour I have a good bit accomplished, but after reading over it I decide it's not good enough and I delete the entire mornings work. Such a waste. I have tried watching the vids on BREAK & BOFUNK to get in a lighter more carefree and relaxed mood- sometimes/occasionally that will brighten me up a bit- but again more often than not I just get bored or I just turn it off and walk away in disgust at some of the STUPID stuff people do in the name of entertainment.

I have ideas tho........ such as I want to do a special photograph of each of my darling grandsons. Actually I want to get a special photo of the whole family(individually)but I want to start with the Grandsons. I LOVE photography and was well reminded of that when I took pictures at the wedding I attended this past weekend. I got some really beautiful shots- some very creative ones- and it made me very happy and proud that I got almost EXACTLY what I wanted to get. My only problem is around here most people don't like to be followed around with a camera until I get that perfect shot. I really like setting it up more like an interview. I pick a spot and take two chairs if none is available at the place I've chosen. Each spot is chosen specificly for the person I'm photographing. The Park is a great place to take kids, one with a playground preferably. It's a bit harder with grownups. You have to choose somewhere they will be relaxed and happy and comfortable- but not someplace with too many distractions. It defeats the purpose of the photo shoot to be somewhere you will be interupted too much.(Altho I have to admit that sometimes these interuptions provide some great shots- but that's the exception- not the rule.)

Kids are both easy and difficult to photograph. They get relaxed and playing or concentrating on something and they pretty much forget you're there with a camera.
On the other hand, sometimes they move so fast that you can HAVE the perfect expression on their faces but before you can press the button they are off , interested in something else that has caught their eye and all you have for a shot is a long, bright blur. And sometimes that's a great shot because it defines them perfectly. You'd be suprised what parents would like, so I always take a couple of those more "creative"("Yeah- that was a great shot- It turned out just perfectly, didn't it?") shots and throw them in as well.

The most difficult age group to photograph by far is the 20-50 year olds. Male or female- doesn't matter. They are very concerned about how they look and who is looking at them. They either don't like being followed around with a camera or they are constantly "hamming it up" for it. That's not what I like to get. My objective is to get the REAL person. The inner spirit, so to speak. Paulius is the perfect example. He absolutely detests being photographed. Every once in a while he will let one be taken, but he hasn't let me really PHOTOGRAPH him. Not the real him. I'll get it tho. He'll eventually let me. I have faith.

Older people are the greatest to photograph. They just want to sit and talk. And all you have to do is listen(or pretend you are). The elderly get so wrapped up in telling you their stories that they loosen up and relax and let these great emotions dance across their faces. They don't usually mind you if you get up and get something to drink(just to be able to change angles for the shots). They just want to talk about what matters to them. If they are worriers(about the camera) I take a portable cassette recorder along and tape the conversation-WITH their permission, of course- and then their focus is more on the recorder than the camera. After the interview/shoot I just give them the tape to take home with them. They think you've given them some great gift...maybe you have...just a while to let them talk about what matters to them.

You know, this post started out as something completely different and it turned into something positive. Lemons to Lemonade as my Grandmother used to say.
I don't feel nearly so bad and bored now.
Maybe I can take a couple days off before the holidays get here. Maybe do a couple of those photos.
Keep your fingers crossed and thanks for listening!

Members Only

I saw my Dad today.

I was walking and came to a building near the lake. On the porch of the building was my Dad, looking young and healthy and happy, dressed in a pair of red swim-trunks and his white boaters.

I tried to get his attention but he was laughing and then turned and walked thru the door of the building. I ran to catch up to him and get a hug, but when I got to the door I could go no further-posted was a sign that said "Members Only"- and I awoke crying.

I miss my Daddy.

A Fairy Tale- Princess Anin's Wedding.

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away was the kingdom of Rellim.
In Rellim Kingdom there was four Princesses; Adav, Aseret, Anin, and Adia. Three were born to the King and Queen and the last was adopted, brought to the king and queen by fairies.

All the princesses had grown up and married off.
At the time of Anins wedding.......

Adav was married to a great and noble Englishman, one of her choosing, which greatly concerned some of the royal family, but she was very happy with her husband and made no odds about having anyones head chopped off or having them hanged should they voice their opinions in too loud a voice.

Adia, the fairy-child, was living in a land not to far away from Rellim awaiting news of her husband who had went off hunting one day and never returned. There were rumors of occasional sightings of him, but nothing had come of them. Times were hard for Adia but being a royal daughter she was looked after as well.

Aseret was single again, living in a land adjoining both lands where the two aforementioned princesses were residing. She was happy in her new castle she had recently acquired and went about her days making her castle a home for her and her children.

Anin came to Adav one day and told her that she had fially found her true love. Adav was very happy for her because Anin had had many suitors but they all turned out to be duds- altho, in general, they seemed to be nice guys. It was hard to explain without all the details which coud take forever and this is supposed to be a short-story fairytale- not a novel. Anyway..........Anin brought her Prince Ynot to meet Adav. Imagine her surprise when the Prince turned out to be someone she knew.
Anin and Adav's sister, Aseret had been married to the Prince many years before, but due to the stresses of war and other complications, had divorced and went their separate ways. Of course, as with any divorce, there were hurt feelings and upsets but everyone goes on with their lives eventually.
Now, it turns out that Anin and the prince had met again a while later-after the divorce- and had taken to each other. They didn't say anything much then to their families but they had fallen in love. They saw each other and went to many state functions together, but never any of the royal functions for fear of it causing a war between the royals. They became serious about their intentions, but in the end, the king became ill and so much of the princess' time was dedicated to making sure the king's every wish was seen to that she and her prince took some time off to think about their relationship, so they went their separate ways, but all along they thought of each other fondly and wished that they could be together.

Sadly the King passed away and the Princesses went back to their daily lives, or they tried to. The king had been much loved by all that knew him and it was months before the people of the kingdom stopped giving condolences to the royals of Rellim.

A few months after the royal funeral, fate and a chance meeting brought the Princess Anin and Prince Ynot back together. This time they didn't hesitate to proclaim their love to each other. And they began planning the wedding. Adav was informed, as was the queen and eventually the Princess Adia and The Royal Prince Eil(short for Eilrahc-where DO the Royals of long, long ago GET these names???)(Oh... did I forget to mention that there were two royal Princes too? Eil is the good Prince, but Prince Dra-short for Drawde- is evil. But That's another story for another time.)
Princess Aseret still bode some ill feelings toward Prince Ynot so was neither informed or invited to the wedding. Adav seemed to think that Aseret would say little and let bygones be bygones, but one can never tell so it went the way it did. Better safe than sorry as the fairies say. What happened after, is yet to be written.

The day of the wedding dawned overcast and cool. It had stormed the night before as well. But as time for the wedding approached the clouds disappeared and the sun shone in all it's glory. Unfortunately the temperatures rose as well and all the wedding party and guests almost melted like ice-cubes in boiling water. But there was a wedding feast that made the tables groan under them with meats and veggies and fruits -anything that would make the mouth water. There were six, yes six wedding cakes, so sweet and moist that you would believe the fairies had made them with their very own wings. Wonderful concoctions they were.
Unfortunately there was no ale to fortify the masses for the long trips home, but there were many other cooling drinks to quench even the worst thirsts. It was probably a good thing there were no spirits to drink- some of the guests would have probably fallen off their steeds or out of their coaches had there been much imbibing going on.

The wedding went on without a hitch. Well, maybe a itsy-bitsy teeny-tiny one.... The royal artists were hard pressed to find a moment they could capture for all time when the Prince and Princess weren't lip-locked. They did manage to get a few tho. There was only two the artists weren't able to get for the Royal couple. One was of her three royal children together alone. The other was one of the royal couple with her family that had come to the wedding. I hope the artists don't get hung or their heads chopped off when the Royal Couple come back from their royal honeymoon.

Just in case, there's a posse of friends from Sherwood Forest waiting.

We all hope Princess Anin and Prince Ynot live Happily Ever After.

The End.

Some More ah Dis-N-Dat....

OMG! I am so happy- they are going to run the DEAD LIKE ME series beginning on Tuesday on the SCI-Fi Channel!!!!

WhoooooooooHooooooooooooo!

You have got to see this from the beginning if you missed it on Showtime.
It makes you wonder........

***********************************************************************************

Finished the flowers for my sisters wedding this morning!
Now all I have to do is figure out what I'm going to wear.

************************************************************************************

Is it just me or has Sci-Fi been running some really BAD B movies on there lately?
The Beast of Bray Road was a REAL disappointment. Then today I click on LEECHES...could it BE any more cheesy?
I don't think so.
I love sci-fi stuff. Especially the stuff like the Beast and things that could possibly be living, breathing realities living at the edge of our civilization.

I wish they would run the movie made back in the 70's- maybe early 80s called THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK.

It scared the pants off me when I saw it the first time. Course, that was when I was young and impressionable.
Wait- Did you hear that?
You never can be too careful- bad things don't only happen in the dark, you know!

******************************************************************************

My weekend is at end. It has been great tho. Paulius and I grilled burgers and shrimp on the Barbie yesterday. We also went to see Pirates Of The Caribbean-DMC. It was great. The ending was a bit troublesome tho. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.
I'd rate it a 9 out of 10.
Much better than the first one, IMO- altho I'm sure Paulius will disagree with me. He is such a purist. I don't think there has ever been a sequel that is as good as the first, in his eyes.
I could be wrong tho. I just can't recall.
Anyway, My boys came over today. Younger son has traded autos yet again!! Really nice vehicle- but red is not a color he needs to be driving. WAY too noticeable- and the type car he has now just screams LOOK AT MEEEEEEE!!!!!
I give it a week before he gets a ticket.
He and my eldest son grilled burgers on the grill for us all. I LOVE my Sundays.
They are just special to me. Paulius and I missed our breakfast together this morning, tho. He slept in- poor baby had a headache...it's this Southern heat & Humidity. We Southerners can't get used to it living here all our lives- let alone an "Englishter" like Paulius.
Not to worry- cool weather is closer every day!
I can't wait!!!!

So Sorry!

Sorry I haven't been very good about posting these past few days.

I've been running around trying to get the remainder of the flowers together for my sisters wedding next Saturday. I'm doing all the flowers for the wedding party.

Went to Garden Ridge today and got the rest of what I needed. They are having their big HOME SALE starting today and I got a hundred and 29 dollars worth of floral stuff for 44.17!!!!!

Not too shabby, eh?

Now I just have to clear out my kitchen so I have the whole table to work on and I can get them all done this weekend...if I'm lucky.

God, PLEASE don't let me get a migraine this weekend!
*****************************************************************************

Paulius and I are also going to be doing the photos of the wedding and reception for them. We are supposed to be at the rehearsal on Friday night and the the wedding is Saturday afternoon at 2PM.
I can't decide if Paulius and I should go and come back home after the rehearsal, or if we should get a room and stay there close. My sister lives about 60 miles away and the wedding location is another 25 miles. Long drive and I am a bit night blind as well.
We're still debating the pros and cons of both plans.
Any opinions?

I am about at my wits end with our dumb-as-a-rock-dog, Buddy. He chewed THRU the cable wire for the Internet a few days ago. They came out Wednesday and replaced it. I came home yesterday and Buddy hadn't been put in his room but I didn't think much about it. This morning I come in and he's in his room, but there are bits of blue fluff all around the cable wire at the front of the desk. I get close to look and try and figure out where the blue fluff came from and I glance at the cable wire....yep, It's been chewed on again. All the way down to naked wire...AGAIN. But not chewed thru. Thank goodness.

Am I going to have to beat this dog?(JK)... Am I going to have to muzzle him all the time?(MAYBE JK) Am I going to have to put skunk scent on the cable to keep him from chewing it?

None of those sound like a winning plan to me.
Maybe we could threaten to get a whole litter of kittens to torture him with?

I DO want a daschund, maybe NOW would be the time to get one.
Hmmmmmm, it's definitely something to think about.
*************************************************************************

Owwwww!!! Guess what? I got a raise! It was an across the board raise- not an individual thing. We get 2% extra. That's about a 5.00 Hot-N-Ready Little Caesars pizza, in case you're wondering. Weekly. Wow- you know- if we save up for a couple months, we could go to the steakhouse!

I work for such a generous company, bless their hearts!
