The Old Gray Mare........

I KNOW I told hubby that I wouldnt re-arrange the furniture once we got it all in, but now that I've lived with the furniture in the space, I see a SOOOOO much more logical and convenient way to place it. And all because I want us to be able to use the KINECT in the living room.
Only problem is-The Old Gray Mare, she aint what she used to be......... There's so much electronic equipment and heavy furniture, I need his help- and he's not co-operating.
I even tried the "Awww- I was JOKING, I thought you KNEW that!" ploy, but it aint flying. He's making me keep my WORD. Bleh. That's no fun.
Okay, so this is our livingroom now. Still not completed. We still have to hang the movie posters on the walls....after we find 6 or 7 we can agree on....

Anyway, what I want to do is just shift everything slightly. I want the TV to go where the bookcase with the plant on it is. I want all the bookshelves to go where the TV is with the small chest thats barely visible in the lower right hand corner of the photo in the middle of the bookshelves.
The cinema seating sofa would be shifted a few feet to the right so its angled/curved into the corner of the room,1) making the seating area not visible to the front door and 2) giving us more space between it and the TV/GAMING CONSOLE/KINECT. The gaming chair would go in front of the smaller window on the right and the two small side tables would go beside the ends of the sofa...Of course.

I have it all figured out. And I know once it got all put in place he would agree it works better....but like most men, he doesn't like change, and he definately doesn't like moving furniture.

Oh well. Maybe I'll EVENTUALLY be able to talk him into trying it that way. If not, I guess I'll just have to try and learn to live with it the way it is.

Scare Tactics....

It's been a while snce I just sat down and wrote for the pleasure of it.

Usually it's to rant about something or to put up photos of something we've done to the house.

But today I'm just going to write. It's been a long process these past couple of years. Stressful living with the inlaws, Stressful looking for a job, stressful saving to get our own place and moving. but that's all over now.
I'm looking forward to exploring our new area. We live on a very leafy street here in Didsbury on the outskirts of Manchester. Our home hoverlooks two golf courses...one across the street on the front- and another at the rear of the property. There's always a breeze when the windows are open and it's wonderful!!
We only put curtains up in our bedroom, but that wasnt for privacy....mainly it was because its a smaller room with a big window and sometimes I get migraines. I can't stand light in any way, shape or form when I get one and I needed one room where it was dark.So hubby and I shopped and bought the darkest curtains/drapes we could find and put them up in the bedroom. And just in time too. The day after we put them up- I got one of those horrible migraines. It hit me like a bolt of lightening. Bless my husband for having the forethought to put them up as soon as we got them home!!!

We also live just yards from a river too. Also on two sides of our house. I cant wait to go on a walk along it to get some photos. Paul and his mate from work went on a photo walk a couple weekends ago and got some great shots!! I was invited to go, but it was a couple days after the migraine and I really didnt want to get overheated and have a relapse, so off they went on their own.

Other than being home sick with the headache it's the only time I've been on my own at home since we moved!!

Speaking of Photos, are you planning on watching the SuperMoon on the 23rd?
I certainly am....if the clouds will co-operate and stay out of the sky just this ONCE!

Did you read the post about our ghost?
Well, the little mischeifmaker has been very active lately. We got up one morning and my aluminium makeup cases had been unlatched.
I have this little porcelain Cherub that sits on a shelf. When we was back in the states, my daughter would move it almost every time she came to our house. Since I put it out here- it has been moved from three different spots I had put it.
And when we got home from work the other day, The toilet roll was sitting upright in the middle of the bathroom floor. and we have a HUGE bathroom!!

As long as the little imp keeps pulling harmless tricks like that I can live with it. It just makes me chuckle.

It's really weird tho because my father in law has a buddy that knows where we live- and he says it used to be some sort of mental home or hospital years ago. Odd.

I'm enjoying cooking again. Altho I do set off the fire alarm at every opportunity. Not because my cookings bad, but lets just say Paul boiled the electric kettle the other night and the vapor off it set the alarm off. It's wayyyyyyy too sensitive.

Whew.......okay, I thought I had lost my post...accidentally left clicked when I moved the laptop, but it saved it to draft. I might not me so lucky next time, so I'm gonna end it here. More later....promise.

20 Questions...The Final Chapter.

16. What do you consider the best TV Show or Movie ever created?

Oh My......Best TV show has to be MASH. I could watch it for hours and never get bored. I also like Big Bang Theory and Little Britain.
Best Movie- So many I love, but Shawshank Redemption is probably at the top of the list. Of course so is ELF, along with All of the Lord Of The Rings Movies. And for me and my BESTIE- Thelma and Louise!!!

17. How would you describe yourself in three words?

Observant- Generous-Hopeful.

18. If you knew that tomorrow your life would change forever, what would you do to appreciate
today?

Nothing different than I already do. I know for a fact that life can change in a moment- and I try to live my life so I wont regret a moment or feel I've wasted it in any way, shape of fun. I do what I have to do to live, go to work, do chores and errands, and such, but I also don't miss a chance to make the most of the rest of my life either. I tell the people I love just that...many times a day- much to a few peoples great annoyance. Some people think that saying I love you 5 times a day makes it less special- but I disagree. I think I want everyone to know how much I care for them and appreciate them. I never want anyone I love to say "I wish Sunny/Lavada/Mom had told me more often how much she loved me".... or "I wonder sometimes how she really felt". They know because I tell them.
 All. The. Time.

19. Favorite blog (or blogs)?

I have several. Every Day I go to a few.....One of my dearest friends has one I go to, but it shall remain nameless because it's a private blog......I also go to In Dodd We Trust, Layabouting, Pinterest Addict, RefashionistaWitless Protection Program, and Southern Plate. I'm also faithful to Life-What The Hell is Going On, but someone hasn't posted on there in months because he has a big project going and doesn't have enough hours in the day to do it all.

20. One thing you’ve learned about yourself in the last year.

I knew I was independent, but I didn't realize how much I LOVE my independence.Oddly enough, I also found out I need to feel I'm making a difference in someones life besides my own.

Now...that's it for my 20 Q & A's. Do you have anything you'd like to know? Just ask.

20 Questions...Part Four

10. Who is your celebrity crush (boy or girl) and if you could spend a day with them what would
you do?

Hmmmm.....
Male would be Tom Hanks. Hands down my favorite actor of all times. Running a close second would be Sean Connery.

Female would be Allison Scagliotti who plays Claudia Donovan in Warehouse 13....Close second would be
Erica Cerra who plays Jo Lupo in Eureka.

I would hope they (Male and Female) would be as much fun off camera as their characters are on the shows.

What would we do?
I think a Horseback trip for the day and then either a pool party or Formal dinner party that night would be fun.

11. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

None if it's going on MY credit card. Now ask me what store I would  choose if I wanted to max out Daddy Warbucks credit card and it would be any high end shoe or clothing store.
I love me some heels and clothes.

12. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A model.I took part in a few local fashion shows when I was in high school, but then life got in the way and I got married and became a mommy and went into law enforcement instead.
If I had to do it over, I'd have went into something a bit more lucrative like Architecture or Photography.
That's okay tho.....I'm doing a bit of the photography as a hobby now and the road I took led me to where I am now and I'm finally truly happy. If only my loved ones hadn't passed away too early, I would be in 7th Heaven.

20 Questions.......Part Three

 Soldiering on.....

7. If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

It's a combo....Homelessness and Hunger. If it were up to me those two things would be wiped from the face of the earth- forever. Nothing fills me with such sorrow as knowing someone out there has no place to call home...no place to sleep, or sit down and relax or take a nice shower or bath, or to call their own...even if it is just rented.
It hurts me to know there are people who go to sleep hungry- and wake up hungry. And that they have no idea where their next meal is coming from or when it will be.

8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I think I've lived in the two most wonderful places in the world. South Carolina, and England.
I've found I love to visit other places tho!!! And plan on doing a lot more OF it!!

9. If you could change something about your home, without worrying about expenses, what
would it be?

Oh Lord, the kitchen. My kitchen is TINY- and if only it were a big country kitchen I would be  on cloud nine!!!
The only other things I can think of I might change is I would quite like to have a gas burning fireplace made of stone, and lovely wood flooring.
Other than those things, I can't think of anything I would change .......altho now I look at it- those are some pretty big things!!! LOL

20 Questions...Part Two

4. What is your favorite color and why?
I have several. I can't choose.
In a kitchen- it's buttery yellow. It's a happy color and everyone should have a happy kitchen to create in.
I have basically 4 colors I wear and use consistently...Black, white, red, and electric blue. They are the colors I'm most comfortable and happiest in.

5. What inspires you?
More than anything it's music....and seeing the good in people. Both seem to touch my soul and make me want to create and be an inspiration to others.

6. What’s your guilty pleasure?
I would love to be able to tell you, but alas, I cannot. Tis a hideous evil thing and it would be branded in your mind forever.
;-)
The one thing I CAN confess to is having a lazy, lazy day. I rarely can settle down and just do absolutely nothing and I always feel so guilty when I do manage to catch some absolute downtime....but man,oh,man....is it PLEASURABLE!!!
