How????????

How do you regain your enthusiasm for a job that you used to absolutely love doing when you have been totally and thoroughly dissillusioned and am now just bored to tears with it all? Is there any way to do it?

(Believe it or not- I had 7 pages hand-written and ready to be keyed in here on this subject- but re-reading it all decided it could all be said in the above sentences-even if one of them IS a run-on.... without boring y'all to tears with all the details- altho I could pin-point to the minute when the disillusionment occured.)

Oops- I did it again........

Any suggestions? Advice? Insights?

Usually when a job loses its verve, it's because of the coworkers who suck all the fun out.

Noope. But if you think it would help look for another,. That usually sahkes things up abit.

I can't quit mothering, but you can certainly find something more Illumnating.

The job timescale:

0 - 6 weeks : Everything's new, you make new friends and actual utter "I love my job."

6 - 26 weeks : Novelty wears off, you can still handle your job.

26 - 52 weeks : Bitchy co-workers start to piss you off, you realise the actual work is boring, and you begin to resent getting crapped on all the time by the higher-ups.

52 weeks onwards : Bitchy co-workers, annoying bosses, boring work...you only stay there because you don't want to go through the hassle of finding another job.

Maybe talk to your bosses about your issues; ask them how they can give you more interesting projects, for instance.

If all else fails, you might have to consider looking for another job, and if it's the career in general you're having doubts about, perhaps even look into different career paths.

Once the magic is gone, it's gone. You can focus on the things you like in a vain attempt to not hate your job, but eventually it's a job... something you have to do in order to keep a roof over your head.

Only 33 years until retirement (assuming the retirement age is 70 for me).
